Official images of the upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA have already been leaked ahead of the vehicle’s debut at the 2013 North American International Auto Show, showing the radical exterior of the car. Now, we have some new snaps of a 1:18 scale replica of the vehicle that should provide us with more detail about this fresh CLA.

Mercedes-Benz intends to make the new CLA its entry-level offering, but as you can see, there’s plenty of style and appeal on this baby despite its placement in the hierarchy of the Mercedes-Benz lineup. There’s plenty of power options to choose from, starting at 122 hp for the CLA 180 up to 211 hp for the CLA 250.

As the exterior is very reminescent of the Style Concept Coupe, the interior is distinctly A-Class―classy, no-nonsense, and topnotch in terms of quality.

The 2013 NAIAS, also known as the Detroit Auto Show, will run from January 14 through 27 next year. The public show starts on the 19th.

It’s never a good thing when a dream fizzles out, and it can hurt much more considering we’re about to say goodbye to 2012 as well. That’s just what Jose Luis Alvarez has to deal with as he bids his 2013 Dakar Rally bid goodbye.

Alvarez and his team was set to take a couple of smart ForTwos to the rally. These are definitely heavily modified to perform on a rally competition and to comply with FIA rules for said event, and many would argue that perhaps the vehicles are merely rally cars with a smart shell, but it’s still a smart, anyway. Right now, though, all that is moot.

According to Alvarez’s site, the attempt to reach the Dakar Rally―which is set to start on January 5 and will go all the way until January 20, taking vehicles from Lima, Peru to Santiago, Chile―has failed, despite some last-ditch efforts to crowd-fund the endeavor.

Even though they’ll be missing it next year, we sincerely hope JL and his team will continue pushing and doing their best to eventually enter the event. You can watch the videos above and below to see more of this Smart Buggy.

An autocar.co.uk report revealed that a new turbo-charged V8 engine may be being developed by AMG for the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG. Unnamed sources have indicated that the naturally-aspirated 6.2-L V8 engine on the C-Class will be replaced with a turbo-charged 4.0-L V8 engine by AMG.

The new V8 engine will feature a similar modular design that is used on the four-cylinder 2.0-L engine of the Mercedes-Benz CLA45 AMG and the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. The two engines will use similar bore spacing, individual cylinder displacement, and other specs.

The modification will not reduce the power offered by the vehicle. The 4.0-L forced-induction engine will offer 450HP of power, although it will reportedly be capable of offering up to around 600HP of power.

In the long run, it will be used instead of the 5.5-L V8 of the Mercedes-Benz SLK55 AMG. Although Mercedes-Benz AMG chief executive Ola Kallenius did not directly confirm the upcoming 4.0-L engine, he revealed that the company is set on offering smaller-sized engines at some point in the future.

Last November, international singing sensations Katy Perry and John Mayer were seen together on a romantic tour in Santa Barbara, the hometown of the female singer. They were spotted strolling down the two-century old church of Old Mission.

But as a Mercedes-Benz fan, what got us more star-struck was the car they entered into after getting some cold beverages. The 28-year old singer was sporting a vintage Mercedes-Benz Ponton convertible. A perfect choice for such a classy and sassy character.

From this angle, it seems like she is driving a 1957 Mercedes-Benz W180 220S Ponton Cabriolet. The W180 was released in mid-50s. It was recognized to be the first E-Class to be released to the public, although the company only started using the term "E-Class" in the 1980s.

I went on a holiday roadtrip in my new 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350! It was cold, snowy, windy andrainy but the car did a great job! I felt safe and warm the whole time. My fuel economy is a little bit down from past trips butI think that was due to the rough weather and a very full trunk of presents!

In other fuel economy news, a 2012 E350 bluetecpurchased here about a year ago is getting 40 mpg! Thanks for sharing Hunter!

Reports indicating that the enhanced model of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will offer a modified 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system with a torque distribution of 67 / 33 (rear /front axle) were found to be accurate. This will give this model a much better handling, and will make it faster on the track compared to the earlier RWD design, AMG chief executive Ola Kllenius revealed. In comparison, the E-Class models with feature a 4MATIC system with a torque split of 55/45.

The output of the 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine will increase to 550HP (405kW) from 525HP (386kW) while its peak torque will go up to 531 lb-ft from 516 lb-ft. Due to this design, the enhanced version of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will go from 0 to 62 mph or 0 � 100 km/h in under 3.5 seconds. The vehicle will be able to finish a quarter-mile-run of the vehicle in just over 11 seconds at a speed of 125 mph or 201 km/h.

The enhanced model of the Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG will receive the Performance Package, which see a minimum increase of 26HP and torque of 26 lb-ft (35Nm). Its top speed will also reach 186 mph or 299 km/h from 155 mph to 249 km/h.

The Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG is set to be launched initially in Detroit before it will be unveiled in Europe by spring. It will be arriving in the US market by summer.

Actor and former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger definitely prefers trucks over cars. Who can blame him? His big Mr. Universe and Terminator-like physique can make normal-sized cars seem so small. Also, maybe he likes a vehicle with plenty of room to move around. On the other light, preferring tough-looking trucks over cars might only be a way to feed his ego. Well, we are not sure about his reasons. But one thing is for sure, he sure know how to choose a perfect auto.

Late this year, he gave up his Hummer over a customized Mercedes-Benz Unimog. Based on several reports over the Internet, this apparently cost him around $250,000. Part of it covers federalization costs, since we all know that this type of truck hasn't been sold in the US since 2007 due to the changes in the emission regulations.

The customized Unimog is capable of handling as much as 16,500 lbs of load, go over a surface with 31-inch water and can pass easily through a 45-degree slope. This makes it perfect for off-road conditions. Normally, this can only for around 50mph, which is not exactly made for traffic light challenges. But we bet that Arnie surely tuned this up to pack up more speed.

There is one problem though, he better be careful where he fills his tank because the Unimog is diesel-fed, which is not exactly common in fuel stations of his state.

Images of a prototype of the Mercedes-Benz CLA were recently sent over to the worldofcarfans.com by a reader of the website. The images were reportedly taken while the car was inside a car park located in Budapest, Hungary.

The upcoming Mercedes-Benz CLA, which is set to be unveiled next year and will be produced in Kecskemét, Hungary, will be using the MLA platform

It will also use a similar engine as the one found on the A-Class as well as the B-Class models of Mercedes-Benz. This means that the output of the standard versions of this particular model will be from around 108 hp (80kW) up to 208 hp (155kw). The Mercedes-Benz CLA may also feature a number of gasoline and diesel versions once it enters the market.

Featuring a 2.0-L, four-cylinder turbocharged engine, the Mercedes-Benz CLA flagship will offer an output of 349 hp (260kW) with a torque of 332 lb.-ft (450Nm).

According to Nick Fry, team McLaren's CEO, Lewis Hamilton's arrival is very exciting for the team but this also puts a lot of pressure to them. Now that Hamilton is under their banner, McLaren team is under pressure to create a more competitive car that could complement the skills of the former F1 world champ.

Hamilton bagged the F1 world championship in 2008, which was his first major world title. He signed up for McLaren following the retirement of Michael Schumacher from the Formula One scene last November.

Although Nico Rosenberg recently won the Chinese F1 Grand Prix in the earlier part of 2012, one major challenge for Mercedes is that it has to produce a car which is strong enough to lead the rankings consistently.

Fry stated that given the potentials of Hamilton, they cannot afford to provide him a car which is not quite the best. The competition is so tough, so it is not enough for them to just have the best driver but they need to have the best car, best technology and the best team as well.

Mercedes-Benz does not currently have a cargo tray available for the 2013 GL-Class that works with the third row seat folded flat. I have found that the cargo tray for the 2006-2011 M-Class fits perfectly side to side and leaves just a small gap behind the second row seats. Don’t get the mat for the 2012 or newer M-Class…it is much too wide. Contact your local parts department to order.
