The 2014 Mercedes-Benz S-Class is a marvel of technology, beauty and power. It is a joy to drive and a real advancement in vehicle safety and convenience. With that said, there are so many features it is hard to absorb it all in one introductory lesson (or two lessons…or three).

For all of you S-Class Class owners who have got the basics down it is time to get fancy! Mercedes-Benz has posted a variety of instructional videos on the Mercecdes-Benz YouTube channel to help you maximize your understanding of your new marvel! Take a look!

Here are some pictures of a 2014 Mercedes-Benz S550 that just arrived for a client. This is the first car we have received in Anthracite Blue and I wanted to try to get some pictures for future reference. As always, color is hard to capture so I parked it next to an Indigo Blue E350 Bluetec and a Lunar Blue E350. I’m not sure it helped!

At first glance it looks Steel Grey to me. In the right light, if you are looking for it, you can see the blue.

This car also features the Deep Sea Blue designo Interior which is stunning!

That is my best attempt to capture this new color. If you are considering it I would recommend you like Steel Grey and then picture it a little blue.

The 2015 Mercedes-Benz GLA45 AMG will arrive later this year and Mercedes-Benz invited journalists for a test drive this week. Here’s the first impression.

From Autoweek:

“In many ways, the AMG is a more pleasant everyday driver than the CLA45 AMG. The GLA delivers the same rousing performance, but offers a more comfortable ride, better for daily commuting.”

“…the transverse four-cylinder is most impressive from 4,500 rpm and up, where its character hardens and delivers explosive qualities on a planted throttle. It also sounds fantastic: a raspy growl under load and the occasional exhaust crackle.”

From Edmunds:

“We tried it on some rocky terrain and it happily traverses trails and loose gravel roads without feeling overly fragile or vulnerable. Whether you like it for its looks or its capabilities, the GLA fitted with the off-road package is uniquely appealing.”

“It adds more cargo space, a higher seating position for better visibilityand even some rough road ability if you need it. Not bad considering it has the same footprint, similar styling and should likely deliver equivalent mileage numbers.”

I got up ridiculously early this morning to attend a CLA45AMG training session with the service department. The technical acheivements of the CLA45 AMG are very impressive and it looks pretty sharp too!

The silver contrast “chin” on the car was a surprise! The one we sold recently was Iridium Silver so I didn’t notice! This would be black on a car with the Night Styling Package!

This is the worlds most powerful production 4-cylinder. 355 horses and it feels like a rocket!

Thanks to Mercedes-Benz Learning and Performance for keeping us up to date on all of the new and exciting vehicles that have been coming our way!

I think they like it!

“We just finished our second quarter with the GL and put almost 7,400 more miles on it. The truck is clearly a keeper.”

“Through the first two quarters, all-day comfort has been unparalleled. For those with aging hips and backs, its seat heaters are therapeutic. It can run with everything else on the road and deliver a genuine 22 miles to the gallon, at speed and loaded to the hilt.”

“Road manners remain superb, now with more than 15,000 miles on the ticker. Creature comforts are first-rate for all aboard. In fact, one staffer said it’s almost wrong to classify it a truck: "Its amenities are limo-licious for airport runs or interstate jaunts." The rear seats rake, and there are rear environmental controls so that the A/C up front need not affect those being chauffeured. Rear-headrest video screens can keep kids of all ages quiet, and the setup features cupholders aplenty, too.”

“At this mileage pace, the GL350 Bluetec is right up there with our long-term fleet’s mileage leaders. Though in denial, we do realize it will leave us eventually. What a sad prospect. Ol’ "Blue" has become a friend, a confidant, a trusted soul. It hasn’t disappointed us when asked to do something with and for us. We will miss it terribly when it’s no longer in the garage. Good thing we have two quarters to go.”

Mercedes-Benz makes a lot of vehicles that don’t come to the US.Trucks, busses, tiny hatchbacks and a couple of vans. Now that Sprinter is in the US and doing well there may be more vans on the way!

Here is an intro to the V-Classthat is arriving in Europe this spring. Car and Driver online

Will it come to the US? I hope so!I love the M-Class and the GL-Class butthey just don’t work for families with lots of car seats or a big carpoolto run. This would certainly fill a niche!
