Naming a Mercedes-Benz is a complicated matter involving tradition, prestige andtrademarks. Sometimes an old classic is removed and replaced with something that fits better with the current line-up. Well, that is going to happen in a big way over the next few years!

The goal is tocenter the model designations around the 5 core models – A, B,C, E, and S. SUVs will start with GL and then add the core model designation that tells you how it lines up. The Coupes and Roadsters get a similar system using the CL and SL pre-fixes.

• A Sedan – GLA SUV – CLA Coupe
• C Sedan – GLC SUV – SLC Roadster (formerly GLK and SLK)
• E Sedan – GLE SUV – GLE Coupe coming in 2016
• S Sedan – GLS SUV – CLS Coupe – SL Roadster (formerly the GL SUV)

Get it? I think it will take me a while to remember the new names and I know I’ll be calling it the ML for years!

Also, we are shortening the engine designations:

• d for diesel
• e for electric
• f for fuel cell
• h for hybrid

There is going to be so much extra room on the trunk!

Marten Bites

Damage caused by martens chewing through or biting cables, tubes, leads and wires of vehicles licensed as private motor vehicles with the exception of rental vehicles, taxis and self-driven rental vehicles.

Ummm, what kind of monsters do they have in Europe!? Here is a video from Audi addressing the issue. It made megrateful to only have mice.

Sometimes new vehicles have surprises in store for us! This 2015 GLA45 AMG has the world’s most powerful 4-cylinder and the new owner proclaimed it “cute as a bug.” Unfortunately, we realized the Summer Tires it was equipped withfrom the factory were not going to be adequate for their winter driving needs.

Here is the solution! From 20″ matte black wheels for the summer…

To 19″ Silver and Grey Wheels with All-Season Tires for thewinter!

We could not find a set of all season tires to mountto the 20″ wheels so we wentanother route. We found a good looking set of 19″ Mercedes-Benz wheels and mounted an all season 19″ MOE tire to that set. Then we simply exchanged them! The 20″ black wheels are bagged up and ready to make their appearance in the spring! Very European, right?

Speaking of the old wheels…I was shocked to find out they easily fit in the back of the GLA45 with room to spare! Impressive!

Here is a close-up of the 19″ wheel we selected. It still shows off those amazing brakes and red calipers and now the car has two looks! Not a bad idea!
