In the world of Mercedes-Benz there are common vehicles and then there are Unicorns. These mythical beasts can be new or pre-owned, modern or classic but what they share is rarity. If you are looking for a black E350 sedan with Premium Package I can show you 20 right now. If you are looking for a E350 wagon with Lighting Package and Distronic? Unicorn! You have to plan ahead to get that kind of equipment!

Most wagons in the US market are a little bit of a unicorn but the ultimate is the AMG wagon! These sleepers were almost always special order and rarely make it back to dealer inventory. This 2013 E63 wagon was originally soldin California. Now it is here in Georgia proving that you have to travel far and wide to catch up to a unicorn!

The E-Class cabriolet has not been gifted with an AMG engine in a number of years. It is a rare person that wants to go that fast with the top down! However, when you catch a glimpse of this unicornit is mystical.This particularcabriolet lookedgreat inside and outside! If you are going to own a unicorn you must take care of it!

Some unicorns are bigger than others. When Mercedes-Benz makes a special version of the classic G-Wagen you know it is going to be snapped up! The famous 6×6 is rarely seen in the wild but always photographed. The Mercedes-Maybach G650 Landaulet version is currently making waves in Geneva. The 4×4 just arrived in the US and is the biggest unicorn on the lot! We’ll see a very limited number in the US and probably just one year of production.

The moral of the unicorn story is that if you know what you want, you have to get it fast! Colors, options, engines, body styles and production volume are all changing all the time. If you love something, order it!

I have signed up to participate in the Rally North Americatour of the Appalachians in July 2017! This is my first official rally!

Rally North America is a scavenger hunt style multi-state road rally that visits different parts of the country each year. The summer2017 trip happens to be in my area. Rally Appalachia will take me from Christiansburg, Virginia to Rome, Georgia and visit several racetracks along the way.There are 70 teams signed up and several on the waiting list.Countdown: The start is July 10th, just four months from now!

Now, I need help! Rally North America uses this event to raise money for charity. The charity for this event is Hope for the Warriors, a Veteran Service Organization. Hope for the Warriors providessupport forveterans, family members and active service members. The focus is health and wellness, community involvement and transitionfrom military to civilian life. Here is a chart about how they use donations.

There are a couple of ways you can donate to both help Hope for the Warriors and to help team @BenzBlogger meet our fundraising goals!

1 – You can visit the online donation area a donate as an individual. Click here, choose your amount and you’re all set!

• $10.00 Provides a meal to a service member at a hunting or fishing trip
• $25.00 Covers meals for a spouse visiting a wounded service member in the hospital
• $100.00 Provides childcare for a service member attending standing Dr. appointments
• $500.00 Covers books/supplies for a scholarship recipient
• $1,000.00 Travel/lodging to a brain treatment facility

2017 Mercedes-Benz G550 4×4 at Atlanta Classic Cars!

The iconic G-Class now has a monstrous brother! The 4×4 stopped by today for a moment and I took all of the pictures! This beast is essentialy the famousG63 6×6 minus one axel. It is tall, looming, beefy, wide, and very cool.

This particular vehicle is destined for another dealership but it was briefly unloaded and itis amazing! I saw it pull in and my first though was “Why is there no wheel on the back?” My second though was “it’s gigantic!” and then I realized that it was the first 4×4 that I had seen in real life!

This vehicle uses the series production G-Class body, variable chassis and all-wheel drive powertrain including portal axels from the G63 6×6 to create a unique off roader with so much presence! There are almost nochoices to be madewhen orderingthe 4×4. Paint color is the only variable. All of the interiors will be the Black Dinamica with white contrast stitching. Can you see the diamond quilting on the doors and seat inserts? The trim is carbon fiber both on the inside and outside of the vehicle. Most of the advertising has featured the Electric Beam yellow paint. This one opted for the more subdued designo Mystic White.

The extra-wide stance is intimidating! Look at the extra carbon fiber width added to the fender flares to accommodate the giant wheels and tires! The front roof spoiler with lights is almost exactly the same as that of the G63 6×6. The sticker quoted fuel economy at 11 mpg for both city and highway.

I can’t find the details for this vehicle on MBUSA.combut here is a link to the European specs. This vehicle is now available for sale in the US with a base price of $225,000. I am expecting my first unit in April/May.

The 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class started arriving earlier this year but we’ve only been getting the “normal” configurations. These are good looking cars…but we all know what Burl Walnut Wood looks like!Some of the ordered cars have recently started to arrive with exciting colors and options!

This Mercedes-AMG E43 features a new trim – the designo (say duh-zin-yo) Magnolia Flowing Lines Trimwith the Macchiato Beige Leather. What a beauty! I have seen the flowing lines trim in the S-Class before and it really compliments the sweeping lines of the dashboard. It also looks likeart deco furniture detailing to me and I loveit! The Flowing Lines look is alsoavailable in Piano Blackrather than the Magnolia which would be incredibly dramatic!

The Macchiato Leather is lighter thanSilk Beige but not as light as Porcelain. Having it paired with the dark carpet is a life saverinthemaintenance department! I often kick the bottom of the door with my shoes as I exit the vehicle and a light door is my nemesis. This is a good combination of light seats with black accents.

Thecenter console in the 2017 E-Class will always be the high gloss piano lacquer. That is the area from the central commandcontroller, around the cupholders, up to theair conditioning controls. If you like your interior more matchy-matchy then the Paino Lacquer Flowing Lines would be the way to go! Also, youwill need a small microfiber cloth to keep the center console dust free.

Look at that detail! You can see the wood grain of the Magnolia and every perfect join on the Flowing Lines. I can’t tell what material theFlowing Lines are made of. Is it metal? Wood? Plastic? Maybe someone out there knows? Please do e-mail me if you know!

It is a beautiful day for a test drive! We have had an influx of Mercedes-AMG vehicles with the new 43 designation and I needed to get a few miles under my belt so I can adequately explain the feel. Also, did I mention how nice it is outside? One of mycolleagues joined me ina GLE63 AMGfor comparison.

The 63 is a familiar engine to AMG enthusiast andcarries the “One Man, One Engine” tradition. The 43 is something else. It started life as the V6 bi-turbo from models like the E400 or2016 C450. Then the vehicle was given to AMG to be enhanced. Suspension, Transmission, body work, and exhaust were all modified and the final result is an AMG vehicle with most of the feel and growl…without all of the price!

I drove the Mercedes-AMG SLC43 around Duluthon both city streets and the highway. In town, the SLC remains the best go-kart! I felt like I should be wearing a helmet! It is much faster than I need it to be, accelerating from a stop with giggle inducing speed.It feels powerful but light and very nimble. The brakes are equally impressive.I was able to shake the GLE63 as we went through some tight turns (but it did come roaring back on the straights). The handling on an SLC is as fun as it ever was in the SLK55 but it feels a little smoother andmuch cushier.

Accelerating onto the highway was a joy!It is fast, of course, but it is also stable and predictable.You can tell that it was built for the autobahn! The steering is speed sensitive so you don’t get any twitchiness at high speeds. You could easily cruise a couple of hundred miles at highway speed without any fear of the bigger vehicles.

I think the SLC43 AMG is exactly what we need it to be! Come test drive yourself!

The 2017 Mercedes-AMG GLC43 Coupe is now available for sale in the US! My AMG trainer brought one by the dealership today so that we could see it before the first one arrives!

Highlights:

• 362 horsepower from the biturbo V6
• Base Price $59,650 plus Destination & Delivery
• Standard 20″ Wheels
• 5 mode Dynamic Select
• Great Looks!

The GLE coupe has been out for about 2 years now and has been a huge success. My clients have loved having the functionality of an SUV in a less traditional wrapper. The GLC grows this segment with a smaller footprint. This would be a great vehicle for small parking situations! It has all of the presence of the larger vehicle without the size!

I was only able to drive it across the parking lot but it was excellent! It has better visibility than you normally see in coupes and the seating position is high without being tippy. This particular vehicle had the standard dinamica interior and it felt very sporty. With the Dynamic Select set to Sport+ it has all of the growl of the bigger AMG vehicles!

Since this is an SUV we should talk about the storage. It has a large cargo area with a very large opening. It isn’t as tall as a traditional SUV in the back but it makes up for it with a very flat floor. The GLC43 is also standard with Air Suspension which allows the car to squat in the back for easier loading. This is an option in the GLC300. If you watch the video you’ll be able to see the cargo tray, scratch protector andcargo box in use. This makes forincredibly organized cargo! Nothing slid around at all!

This is the only Mercedes-Benz SUV that is currently built in Germany! The GLC is built in Bremen and is available for European Delivery. This would be an excellent time of year to plan your vacation!

Dear Internet,

I am getting ready to order my new Mercedes-Benz and I just can’t decide on the colors! You’d think I spend enough time looking at the cars to know what I want but I’m feeling indecisive. I thought you might have an opinion.

First, I am not deciding between S63 cabriolets, even thought what is what is in the picture! I am pretty sure it is going to be a C43 Cabriolet. I have really enjoyed my E400 cabrioletbut the new E-Class cabriolet won’t be readywhen I need to switch cars. The engine in the 43 is a lot of fun and the new C-Class designis so beautiful! I know I would be happy with this vehicle. I’m not sure I’ll ever be without a cabriolet again!

Now, for the color. My go-to is white/saddle/black top. However, I need to get a different color this time. I’m in a rut. Gotta shake it up! Here are the things I know for sure:

• Not White
• Not Red Interior
• Not Brown Top
• Not Black with Black top
• Definitely Sport Package, Night Package, Multispoke Wheel

Have you seen anything out in the world that you really loved? Is there a color that you think would be perfect for me? Is there a combination I am overlooking? I have about 2 weeks to make up my mind and thenanother month to change my mind a few times. The order will likely lock inby April for a May build and late June or early July delivery.

For those of you keeping track, my E400 lease is not officially up until November 2017. I am planning to use the Mercedes-Benz Loyalty Accelerator Program to waive my last couple of payments so I can make the switch early.I estimate that I will hit my total allowed miles in July!

The AMG models have been excluded from the European Delivery Program discounts for years…but that is changing! The 2018 Mercedes-AMG C43 and C63 coupe and cabriolet will be available, starting August 2017, with a 5% discount! You can pick up this car in Sindelfingen or Bremen! September would be an amazing month for a top down tour of Germany!

There are a lot of reasons to opt for a European Delivery and the discount offered on most models has always been a strong incentive. Most models qualify for a 7% discount as well ashaving the $925 destination fee waived!The European Delivery trip includes one night at a great hotel, taxi vouchers and a meal at the delivery center. Mercedes-Benz now offers a $200 waiver on Delta (direct flights from ATL to STR)! In short, this is a deal!

The AMG and S-Class vehicles would also qualify for a Center of Excellence Delivery if you would like to spend some additional time with the Mercedes-Benz experts at the factory and have a four course meal!

So, let’s do the math! You want a 2018 C43 cabriolet this fall. MSRP is about $70,000. Let’s subtract the $925 destination feeand then 5% (about $3500) and you get a sale price around $65,500! That $4500 in savings will easily pay for airfare for two ($400 Delta discount applies!) and a week of fun in Europe! If you want a $100,000 C63 S you save even more!

You do have the option to lease, purchase or pay cash when you take delivery in Europe. It is kind of like taking delivery in the US, except you get to do it twice! You’ll meet your new car for the first time in Germany and then, six to eight weeks later, you meet her again in the US! I can even make arrangements to have it shipped to a dealership closer to your home if youdo not live in the Atlanta area!

So, if there weren’t enough reason to love the C43 and C63, now you can love them in Europe!

I have picked up three cars in Germany and each trip is better than the last! Let me give you a few reasons you should buy yournext Mercedes-Benz through the European Delivery Program!

1 –The Mercedes-Benz Experience

This the front door of the European Delivery Center in Sindelfingen. It is a huge facility with an amazing staff, awesome Mercedes-Benz merchandise and the home of this Giant Star! You really feel the brand heritage and pride that comes with having chosen The Best or Nothing!

2 – TheFood

This is the real reason we all travel, right? I have stayed at more than 10 of the hotels booked through Mercedes-Benz as a part of the European Delivery Package. Two trips with the full Black Forest Package and one with a single night. Without exception they have amazing food! I would go to Europe just to eat breakfasts! This was taken at the Grand Hotel Kempinski on the shore of Lake Geneva.

3 – Making New Friends

As you travel you’ll meet lots of other Mercedes owners, people who want to ask about your strange tourist tags and fellow adventurers. It is great ice breaker to be in your new car! When using the Mercedes-Benz Travel Packages you’ll often run into other Americans doing the same things. It is fun to share the experience!

4 – European Roads

Look at those squiggly lines! When is the last time you found that many switchbacks to drive through? Have you even been on the autobahn? This is a great way to experience your Mercedes-Benz. It is engineered to go fast! It wants to show you the impressive handling! Let it show off! Also, if your new car is equipped with navigation, it will work in Europe. It’s easy to travel there.

5 – The Scenery

Wherever you take your new car in Europe there are amazing things to see! You are just hours from mountains, beaches,and cities. All of my vacation picturesare of cars in front of things but you could include people. The tulips of Holland, the vineyards of Italy, the Alps in Switzerland, the cliffs of Portugal, it goes on and on! I have tons of recommendations!

The Mercedes-Benz GLC is getting tons of good press because it is a great car! My clients are loving the luxurious ride, the plush interior and the excellent power. The down side of all this love is that supplies are small! Idon’t have a large inventory and some desirable features are hard to get.

If you are thinking about a GLC you should order ASAP! I recommend you visit your trusted sales professional (hopefully me!) to review the available features and get your order in the system. It will likely take 90 to 120 days to arrive and you are going to want a new car this spring!

If you want to get really fancy you can order it for European Delivery and pick it up in Sindelfingen or Bremen, Germany! I can help!

Take a look at this beauty arriving yesterday! This client wanted leather (hard to get), trailer hitch (almost impossible) and Burl Walnut Wood (Not in November or December). It took almost 5 months to get it done right but we did it and they love the result!
