He came home looking for a victory in a course he knows well―and Gary Paffett delivered. The Mercedes driver took the win at Brands Hatch to secure his second victory in the first three races of the DTM 2012 season, extending his lead in the drivers’ standings and also helping Mercedes extend the team lead.

Over 27,000 people were in attendance over the three days of the DTM weekend, and Paffett would not disappoint the home crowd as he brought the win. This was his 19th win in 84 DTM races, giving him a win rate of 23 percent―the best clip among the current crop of drivers racing in the DTM. Incidentally, this was Paffett’s first DTM win here in Brands Hatch.

Paffett clocked in at 1:10:1.585, followed by Bruno Spengler of BMW for second place some five seconds later. Audi’s Mike Rockenfeller took the last podium spot. Mercedes’ other drivers couldn’t come close to Paffett’s performance, as Christian Vietoris ended up sixth after getting held back from the start to the early laps and Jamie Green could only manage eighth. Many of the drivers experienced difficulty when it came to overtaking at this particular track.

After three races, Paffett has 68 points. Spengler is second with 43, Audi’s Mattias Ekstrom third with 35, and Jamie Green close by with 34.

The next race is at Red Bull Ring on June 3.

What happens if you race the McLaren, one of the fastest cars in the world, with another Daimler car, the smart? Well, no doubt, McLaren will win.

In a very ironic situation however, the smartfortwo seems to have won. But this is not a race. A police officer in the smallest and cheapest car in Daimler's umbrella was seen writing a ticket for a parked Mercedes SLR McLaren Roadster in Beverly Hills. What happened when the owner of the stickered car saw the ticket is unknown. Well, there is nothing he can do right?

It's just funny, at least once, the smartfortwo wins.

After getting in the second place last December’s evaluation, the three star brand is now on the top spot for being the strongest auto brand in Germany.

Other than winning the major citation, Mercedes also got the highest position in three minor categories, the first one being “Environment”, which is won because of the engine variants that the car manufacturer is making. These engines emphasize fuel reduction and economy, that reduces the risk of environment’s degradation.

Another citation is “security” primarily because of the COLLISION PREVENTION system in new Merc models. “Market power” was also bagged due to the market leadership that the company achieved in the last six months.

“The fact that we have managed to conquer the top position in ADAC AutoMarxX back, shows that we are with Mercedes-Benz at an outstanding way. I am particularly pleased that we are in the environment, and ranking in the category of security topped. The placement of the most successful premium manufacturer in the category of market strength underscores how well arrive before all our new products to our customers. The strongest car brand in Germany to be is for us first, a great endorsement of our work and at the same motivation for the future, ” said Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Exec VP Mercedes-Benz Sales and Marketing.

This 2012 ML350 already has an owner but it is the first one I have seen with this interior combination! This is the Auburn Brown/Black Leather and the Brown Satin Ash Wood trim. Both are special order options.

The Brown Satin Ash Wood trim feels very smooth and silky. You can actually feel the grain of the wood on the dashboard sections. It would be great for hiding fingerprints that show on the glossy finishes!

I love the full leather interiors on the 2012 ML-Class. The contrast piping and additional stitching look like a million dollars! I have now seen the Auburn Brown/Black leather interior with Black, Dakota Brown and Diamond White paints. It worked with all of them!

A group of 25 SLR. CLUB members, all with their precious SLR vehicles, took the road on May 16th to participate in the Mille Miglia in Rome, which covers a specified route starting from Brescia then Rome then back to the start to cover 1,000 miles (hence the name).

The Mille Miglia is a traditional Italian race from way back in 1927. It was held annually until 1957 and then resurfaced in 1977. This year’s race features a parade of classic cars, a field with a total of 382 competitors―including these 25 SLR owners―that will pass through Italy’s famed cities of Bologna, Florence, and Verona.

The SLR. CLUB contingent is comprised of the following cars: 3 Roadster 722 S, 5 SLR Coupes, 7 Roadsters, and 10 of the SLR Stirling Moss models. Daimler boss Dieter Zetsche sent off the SLR. CLUB, which is participating in the Mille Miglia for the 8th time in the club’s history.

Mercedes-Benz, in its capacity as the event sponsor, will also be participating. The Stuttgart works team has fielded a trio of classics that hearkens back to the heritage of the brand as well as to the automaker’s victories in this same event. There’s a Mercedes-Benz SS, a Mercedes-Benz SSK, and the W196S racing car that won the 1955 World Sportscar Championship season as well as the 1955 edition of the Mille Miglia in record time.

paffett dtm 597x356 DTM: Paffett Hopes for Good Results in Brands Hatch Return

The next race in the 2012 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters season is Brands Hatch, considered the home race for HWA Team’s Gary Paffett. Powered by his THOMAS SABO Mercedes AMG C-Coupe, Paffett is currently leading the Drivers’ championship and is looking for a good showing in the third race of the young DTM season.

"It's great to be returning to Brands Hatch for my home race and to be showcasing DTM racing for the British fans," said Paffett. "In the early stage of my career, I used to compete at Brands Hatch three or four times a year, so I have very fond memories of the circuit and the races there."

Paffett also expressed excitement at the prospect of Jenson Button, driver for the Vodafone McLaren-Mercedes Formula One team, driving him around in the Mercedes-Benz race taxi.

Back to the upcoming race, Paffett recognized that Brands Hatch is "very demanding" and would pose a challenge to the competitors. "A single lap is very short, but we complete almost 100 of them, so it's a tiring weekend. I aim to send the British fans home satisfied with a result that matches the first two races of the season."

Surely, Paffett and the rest of HWA Team will do their best to extend their respective leads. We’ll keep you posted on the results of the action in Kent.

What do you get when you soup up an already fast car using a package centered on a Stealth aerodynamic kit? That’s the Mercedes-Benz CLS 63 AMG Stealth by tuner German Special Customs.

The aerodynamic body of this tuned car, as well as its body color, really shows off the design that’s influenced by stealth airplanes. There’s a new hood with a broad shaft, fresh side skirts, and a broader front fascia. Instead of the Mercedes-Benz logo adorning the front grille, the GSC emblem is displayed on that section. Oh, the new bumber is also laced with LED daytime running lights for added functionality and style.

With those additions and the performance upgrades provided for the Stealth’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 engine, the custom vehicle generates 225 horsepower more than the standard AMG variant. The Stealth’s 750 horsepower is aided by a new exhaust system, bigger turbochargers, and a bonus water cooler. New 20-inchers are in place, while drivers will also get to play nice with the front axle’s adjustable suspensions.

The GSC CLS 63 AMG Stealth has a top speed of nearly 350 kph, while its 0-100 kph time is rated at a mere 3.7 seconds.

The Spanish Grand Prix was a difficult one for Mercedes AMG Petronas; Michael Schumacher retired after a lap 12 collision with Bruno Senna (and subsequently penalized for Monaco), and Nico Rosberg lost fifth place near the end after some tire problems. Still, Rosberg says the championship is right there within his grasp.

The thing is, with Pastor Maldonado claiming his maiden F1 victory last weekend, many of the other title contenders did not gain much headway in the standings. Fernando Alonso’s second-place finish allowed him to tie Sebastian Vettel at the top. Both have 61 points, and while Rosberg is at seventh right now, it is a mere 20 points behind the leaders.

Here’s what Rosberg said: "I only lost two points on the championship lead, which is good, and I'm still only 20 points away, so it's still open as long as we can really now push on and improve."

Five winners in five races―it’s something not seen in Formula One since 1983, and the standings are close. Consistency is the key to winning this season, and Mercedes AMG Petronas simply has to continue to push and keep the car in line, waiting for one or two more race wins that can put Rosberg over the top. It’s not a farfetched idea, as seen in Rosberg’s pole-to-pole win in Beijing earlier this season.

"It's just very difficult at the moment to understand how the next race is going to be," said Rosberg. "We'll have to wait and see." Hopefully, he and Schumi can improve on what appears to be a terrible Spanish Grand Prix for the team. Everything’s up in the air for Rosberg and Mercedes, which is currently fifth in the constructors’ championship race.

A 60-year old woman who adores drag racing is behind the wheels of the super car. You read that right, 60-year old and drag racing. Doesn’t looks like these phrases could be together eh? But yes, in this clip, you can definitely watch this woman who even shared what’s in her Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG before she joined her husband, who I suppose is as old as she (or close?), on the track. The hubby drives a Dodge Viper.

The Top Gear Festival that will be held in Durban, South Africa on June 16-17 is going to get some Formula One action as the car used by Mercedes AMG Petronas is set to take the road. The MGP W02, used in the 2011 Formula One season, will be demonstrating its capabilities in the event’s 2.4-kilometer street circuit.

Sam Bird, the winner of GP2 and also a test driver for the Silver Arrow’s F1 team, will be taking the wheels of the MGP W02. "I'm really looking forward to the Top Gear Festival and the opportunity to drive our Silver Arrow F1 car through the streets of Durban," Bird said. "Any event where the fans can really get close to the car and experience the noise and power for themselves is fantastic, and we're all excited about travelling to South Africa in June."

Aside from the MGP W02 making a run through the street circuit, there will also be some other great machines seeing action at other venues like the People’s Park and the Moses Mabhida Stadium. In addition, Top Gear’s the Stig will also be driving a couple of supercars to make for another attraction that will surely get fans’ hearts racing.

The high-performance Mercedes-Benz G65 AMG G-Wagen will not be accompanying the rest of its Mercedes-Benz G-Class brethren when they enter US territory later in 2012. That’s a bit of a disappointment for the many who want to see the powerhouse on American soil and for the few who could actually afford one.

Specs-wise, the G65 AMG is very much in the neighborhood of the highly-touted Lamborghini Urus super SUV, something the Italian automaker hopes to make into the most powerful production unit in its class. The G65 comes with a 6-liter twin-turbo V12―the same one on the S65 AMG―that allows the tweaked G-Class unit to provide a monstrous 612 horsepower and 738 lb.-ft. of torque.

The price point at which the AMG-tweaked variant is supposed to be at is a bit limiting, however, as its Euro price is going to put it at just a bit over the $500,000 threshold―and who’ll be willing to pay that much even for a powerful beast like the G65?

Don’t worry, though―the cheaper and still quite considerably powerful G63 AMG will be arriving in the US. At around $130,000, it should be more realistically priced. It comes with a 5.5L twin-turbo V8 engine good for 544 horsepower along with 560 lb.-ft. of torque.
