Motor Trend has just named the 2017 Mercedes-Benz GLC as the SUV of the Year! It has been selling like hotcakes and I am sure that this announcement will boost it even more!
“Before we get to the "why" of the award, let's get to the "what" of the SUV. The GLC replaces the old GLK, the little-loved, squared-off, schnauzer-faced mini-ute that will forever be known as the most believable character in Sex and the City 2.”
“The GLC is a smaller vehicle that feels every bit as well-honed as an E-Class, if not an S-Class.”
“How does the GLC compete against the other strong-selling German SUVs, the Audi Q5 and BMW X3? Solid players for sure, but we can tell from experience that the GLC does it all better. That also applies to the smaller-volume players in the segment, the Jaguar F-Pace, Maserati Levante, Porsche Macan, Acura RDX, Infiniti QX50, and Volvo XC60. All are nice premium SUVs―some even do a good job mimicking sports cars―but none is as well-rounded as the Mercedes-Benz GLC. Although not an official criteria, being the best in a given segment greatly helps secure first-place votes.”

The refreshed SLC arrived recently and I thought it would be a good idea to park it next to the SLK to see what’s new!
These vehicles have similar option packages, the same color and are both V6s. The SLK has an MSRP around $60,000 and the SLC at $66,000.

It’s here! The smallest member of our Cabriolet family has arrived. The Selenite Grey car is the first 2017 C300 Cabriolet to arrive at the dealership and I am impressed! I parked it next to the black S550 to highlight the family resemblance.
Several people walked by it while I was taking pictures and thought I had two S-Class cabriolets lined up!
These two look especially similar with red interiors and the multispoke wheel.
The C-Class has all of the things that make the Cabriolet wonderful – Airscarf, Aircap and the windscreen. The Cranberry red leather is lovely too!
Look at those tails! You can see that the C300 is smaller but it has a lot of the same lines!

This has come up a few times recently so I thought I would highlight the issue.
Most Mercedes-Benz sedans now have a switch in the glove box to lock the trunk. When this is slid to the locked position the trunk will not open with the key, the handle or the door switch. It is not broken!
The idea is that you can then manually lock the glove box with the blade key, take that with youand now a valet/child/spouse can’t accessthese areas.

Quite a few of our 2017 models have arrived but there are still a few we are waiting for.
The first 2017 SLC and SL models with refreshed exteriors are here. I will try to get some side-by-side pictures soon!
Several of the SUV models have revised package structures for 2017. The vehicles themselves are the same but packages were renamed.
The C-coupe, S-Cabriolet and GLE43 are all doing quite well!
We are still waiting for the GLC-coupe, redesigned E-Wagon and the 17 C-Class and S-Class vehicles. Coming soon!
