Daimler AG subsidiary Setra, of the commercial bus and touring coach fame, has just reached a milestone in Switzerland. The company just finished the delivery of its 2000th bus in the country.

The bus―an S 431 DT TopClass 400 double-decker, which seats 78 people and is classified as a 4-star unit―was for operator Ernst Marti AG, and is intended for the company’s long-distance holiday trips bound for Spain and Italy.

Heinrich Marti, the operator’s Managing Director, was ecstatic at the handover ceremony. "In my opinion Setra’s flagship model, the S 431 DT, is the product that offers the most complete and best-rounded concept overall, while the total package that it comes with is, quite simply, just right," he said.

This particular unit comes with a host of features together with an exceptional interior. It has a Lane Assistant System, Active Brake Assist, and a system in the engine compartment that automatically takes care of any flames. In addition, the bus is equipped with its own microwave oven, gallery kitchen, and a coffee machine that has a 40-cup capacity.

Setra has been producing commercial buses for Switzerland since 1953, and that makes it around 34 buses delivered every year. That’s a pretty solid figure, considering the high quality of the buses the company makes.

During their visit in Germany, Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene visited the Mercedes-Benz Museum.

In their visit, they were regaled to a tour that took them back to where the automotive industry started. And because Prince Albert II is a classic car enthusiast and owner, he was naturally enchanted by the collection that he found in the museum. Other than that, he seems impressed with the development and research work that is being done in all the cars of Mercedes-Benz. The couple, the report said, particularly liked the environmental friendliness, sustainability and renewable forms of energy that is being put in the car models. They saw, not only the industry's history, but also the future of it.

Dr. Joachim Schmidt, Member of the Board of Management of Mercedes-Benz Cars, Sales and Marketing said, “We are very honored that Prince Albert II and his wife visited the Mercedes-Benz Museum during their first official visit to Germany and have taken the opportunity to find out more about our road to emission-free mobility.”
