The orders just keep pouring in for Daimler Buses. The company has just received a big batch order from Germany’s largest bus service provider, DB Fleet Management GmbH for DB Regio bus, with a total of 150 units comprised of a mix of Mercedes-Benz and Setra branded buses for use in urban and regional transportation.

To ensure a minimal environmental footprint, the buses will feature Mercedes-Benz’s BlueTec SCR technology. They will also meet the Enhanced Environmentally Friendly Vehicle (EEV) standard that’s known for being stricter than the Euro V emissions standard. The buses are slated to be produced at the various EvoBus plants located in Mannheim and in Neu-Ulm and will be delivered in batches starting in 2013.

"The order confirms that even in tough economic times our customers want our high-quality and environmentally friendly buses," said Daimler Buses Marketing, Sales & Aftersales Head Till Oberworder. "Our vehicles are therefore making a valuable contribution to public transportation."

Most of the buses will sport low-floored chassis and will be either 2- or 3-door models. With this design, handicapped and elderly people can get inside and alight from the buses with little difficulty.

DB Regio Bus is part of Deutsche Bahn, Germany’s national railway company. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 2 million people each day take DB Regio Bus units.
