I took a little roadtrip this morning to deliver a 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL550 to Oconee County, Georgia!

Don’t they look happy to have a new car? And what a gorgeouscar it is!I especially enjoyed theDriver Assistance Package while cruising the back roads of Georgia. The Distronic PLUS made is such a relaxing drive and the Active Lane Keeping Assist corrected me a couple of times when I took my eyes off of the road. Also impressive was the mileage…429 horsepower should not get over 27 mpg!

The return trip was in a 2005 Mercedes-Benz SLK350. This car has alwayshad excellent go-cart handling and withmore than 80,000 miles on the odometer it was still tight and responsive.

And another winner in the fuel economy department. 302 horsepower with aggressive backroadsdriving and I still clocked in over 25 mpg!

It was a great day for a couple of great roadsters!

“Through careful and near-obsessive engineering, the team at AMG has produced a turbocharged engine that delivers 177.5 hp per liter and develops full torque from 2250 to 5000 rpm. In practical terms, not only can it deliver a mountain of torque on demand, it can deliver the exact level of torque the driver requires.”

“On the road, the CLA45 feels small and agile — not exactly what we’ve come to expect from Mercedes. While it certainly feels every bit the level of quality we expect of anything with the three-pointed star, it is immediately obvious this car uses a cab-forward, transverse-engine layout. The driving position is near ideal, and the seats and steering wheel are a DTM fan’s dream. Rear headroom is compromised by the sloping roof, but on the upside, the trunk has plenty of space. Road noise is minimal and engine noise is fantastic.”

“The CLA45 may not seem like an ideal track-day weapon, but it was one of the most enjoyable cars I’ve had on the track in a long time. On the road, the mixture of luxury and performance make it a world-class sport sedan.”

For the last 6 years I have participated in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure! This is a 60 mile walk around the streets of Atlanta with thousands of other participants. Since 2008 my team, the Ribbon Ladies, has raised over $140,000!

The 5k for the 3-Day is a 5k race at the local park that I created to support our fundraising for the 3-Day walk. Atlanta Classic Cars is the presenting sponsor and makes it possible for 100% of the proceeds to go to the 3-Day for the Cure.

If you live in the Atlanta Area please register and come out and run or walk with us this Saturday! The race starts at 9am. You can register online here as a runner or if you you can’t attend but would like a shirt, as a “ghost runner.”

It turns out that Mercedes-Benz just released a better solution…the Cargo Tray for the GL-Class! This tray is perfectlymolded to every contour of the cargo area and has small doors to allow access to the tie downs.

Atlanta Classic Cars installed our first Illuminated Star on a 2014 Mercedes-Benz E350 today! I was worried it would be a little too flashy but it is well done and fairly subtle. It really does add a WOW factor the the vehicle! It was hard to take good pictures in the daytime but I did want to show how the housing for the bulbs is a full star and circle behind the chrome emblem.

I attended the Caffeine & Octane Car Show this weekend in Alpharetta and it was amazing! I have been going to car shows my whole life and I don’t think I have ever seen such a variety of vehicles. The metro Atlanta Mercedes-Benz delaerships are sponsoring the series this summer and will have vehicles and staff at every show. It is the first Sunday of every monthand you need to get there early! By 7am the parking lot was nearly full!

As you can see I brought the 2014 E350,Nash Solanki, our accessories manager, brought a pre-owned 2012 CLS63 AMG and we made friends with the owner of thisstunning classic Mercedes-Benz. I thinkit dressed up our area nicely!
